there on the edge between this world and the next.
See; there they stand.
Ancestral spirits, welcome this one
to the place where we all must go.

As I go to bed, I pray to the High Gods.
I offer you my worship, and ask you to bless my family.
I ask if I have done anything today to offend you.
If I have, I ask for forgiveness and for guidance,
that I might walk the sacred path in peace and in beauty.

What is Mabon?

Mabon, sometimes known as the Harvest/Thanksgiving ritual of the Autumn Equinox, is one of the Spokes of the Wheel of the Year. In the many Earth or Pagan Religions, a special kinship with the passing of the seasons is felt… this is usually due to the history of said traditions, most of which stem from agrarian cultures where the seasons marked the way of life. From planting to reaping to winter to summer… the seasons were of great importance to our ancestors, for their very existence depended upon good harvests, mild winters, enough rainfall, and the like.

Aumakua

Means “Ghost of your ancestors”. Huna, the religion of early Hawaii, taught that each person had two souls.
When one died the earthly soul (unihi-pili) remained earth-bound and descended to the the underworld. The aumakua (higher soul) ascended to the heavens to rejoin the deceased ancestors. This Hawaiian god guides the souls of the deceased on their journey to the afterworld.
