Chthonic earth goddess. Celtic (Welsh). Responsible for initiation of souls in the otherworld in the tower of Caer Sidi. Mentioned in the Mabinogion texts as the possible daughter of Beli, consort of DON and mother of LLEW LLAW GYFFES and Dylan.

In Russian folklore Booyan is a magic island, mentioned in incantations and spells, the otherworld. This island is situated in the middle of the ocean, and holy men possessing healing powers live there; on this island stands a magic stoneAlatyr. In spells and incantations Booyan is mentioned along with this stone. People believed that otherwise no spell or charm could be effective.
