Botanical Name: Salvia sclarea

Family. Lamiaccae

The Plant.- Clary sage is native to Europe. The plant grows to about 3 feet (90 cm) high and has whorls of pink, white, or blue flowers, depending on the variety.

The Essential Oil. The oil is extracted from the flowering tops of the plant.

Scent of the Oil. Sweet, herbaceous.

Main Uses

Calming; relieves stress and tension; promotes restful sleep; relieves pain; eases menstrual discomfort; regulates the female reproductive system.

Other uses

Mood uplifting; aphrodisiac; improves digestion

Precautions. Clary sage tends to slow down reflexes. Avoid driving or doing anything that requires full attention after using the oil. Use small amounts.
