Dohkwibuhch

In Snohomish mythos, the creator deity. Dissatisfied with the way that Dohkwibuhch had made the world, a wise man discovered that everyone bumped their heads against the sky, as it was very low, while others climbed up high trees and went into the sky world.

So he devised a plan. He said that if all the people and all the animals and all the birds pushed at once, the sky could be lifted away from the Earth. This was accomplished, but some people who did not know of the sky-lifting, hunting elk, followed the game up into the sky, and were stranded there forever.
